Democrats seek to repeal US vaccine liability law

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Congressional Democrats on Wednesday introduced legislation that would repeal a law that gives vaccine, drug and medical device makers broad protection against lawsuits in a public health or bioterror emergency.

Democrats generally agree there should be some legal protections for certain vaccines but say the Republican version defined health emergency too broadly and did not compensate people who were injured.

The liability provision, strongly favored by Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist of Tennessee, was added to a defense bill enacted in December. Democrats would have an uphill struggle trying to repeal it.

No, the vaccines will not go away, they will just get more expensive. The Democrats will blame the pharm. companies for the higher prices that result from increased litigation costs.

Then after driving the cost of vaccines out of reach for the poor, the Democrats will introduce the Department of Vaccination to spend billions a year delivering vaccinations that used to cost $15 a pop for $325 a pop.

And they'll call it compassion.

...because of the liability laws that changed during the clinton administration US drug firms stopped making flu vaccines. Who was going to spend millions developing drugs and then be sued?.. Easy answer don't make the vaccine..now years later we have a shortage....and still the democrats want to put drug companies under the hammer. So why is it
