FORT WORTH - A Star-Telegram investigation has uncovered discrepancies in the academic credentials of RadioShack Chief Executive Dave Edmondson, including inaccuracies on his résumé and corporate biography.
A biography that was distributed to the news media and posted on RadioShacks Web site said that the executive earned degrees in theology and psychology from Pacific Coast Baptist College in San Dimas, Calif.
But the registrar at the small school, which moved to Oklahoma City in 1998 and renamed itself Heartland Baptist Bible College, said enrollment records show that Edmondson completed only two semesters of coursework. He also said that the school never offered degrees in psychology.
In an hourlong interview Friday with the Star-Telegram, Edmondson said he only minored in psychology and had been unaware of the error in his corporate biography. He said he earned what was designated as a Thg degree, completing a three-year program in theology through correspondence courses while working at a church in Colorado. He suggested that Heartland Baptist must have lost some paperwork that should be in his file.
Pointing to his résumé, he insisted that he never mischaracterized his record to the company, which hired him in 1994.
I can be responsible for how I represented myself to the company, and I am responsible for how I represented myself to the company, said Edmondson, who has been CEO since May. So anyway, Ill just say this: If I were going to make stuff up, I probably would have found something a little more impressive to make up.
Dave's wife Debra is a leftist.
Too bad, it's a terrifc chain with first rate merchandise. Hopefully, this won't tarnish the company's reputation.

Hahaha you're funny!
Yes, I know your attitude well. I shared it once myself. Radio Shack wasn't cool. It wasn't cutting edge. The products had weird brand names. How good could it be?
Then I bought a small microcassette recorder/player from them in an emergency situation. The damned thing lasted eleven years of very hard use. Other products I've purchased from them have lasted even longer.
Trust me, they make (or contract out) quality equipment.
did he refuse to give his zip code?
They might make good products, but their customer service and technical skills are severely lacking. Unless you like getting asked asinine questions like "Do you have a cellphone?" everytime you just want to buy a battery.
Yeah, they see the cell phone thing as a cash cow. In my opinion, that's a mistake. They should concentrate on consumer electronics and gadgets. I suspect this piece of their market has been eaten away from places like Staples, the big box stores, Sharper Image type places and large chains.
Still, their stuff is first rate.
The last time I went to a Radio Snack, the limp-wristed, weirdo clerk couldn't find the soldering irons (for our kids' lab stuff). Then he tried to criticize us for buying them (instead of complete products that the women there were buying) by repeating ironically as to "how clever" we were.
Maybe something is going on in other stores. The ones I frequent in NYC are all staffed by uber-nerds. I travel frequently and use other Radio Shacks when I need supplies, but have never had a problem.
Then they went to his house and found he had a Goldstar VCR...
Really? I have a simple rule about shopping there. Never spend more than $5.00. That way I limit disappointment to no more than $5.00.
Radio Shack doesn't MAKE anything. It's branded for them. Most of it is low-end clunky crap. Overpriced too.
Rat Shack doesn't even carry much in the way of electronic components or cable parts anymore. I expect the chain to die.
The Radio Shack nearest me has a middle aged transvestite (or is it a transsexual) working there. The other employees all seem to be about 17, with metal adornments in unusual places.
For me, Radio Shack is a store-of-last-resort, mostly a holdover attitude from the days when they demanded your name and address when you bought a $.79 battery.
Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure - they went to San Dimas High School!
Excellent!
I've been waiting for Radio Shack to die for 20 years. For some reason, it keeps going, and going, and going...
Obviously a Bush crony. Bush's fault!
I can't think of a single reason to shop at Radio Shack any more.
