Danes In Indonesia 'Under Threat'

Danes in Indonesia 'under threat'

Danish embassies have been the target of angry protestors

Danish nationals have been urged to leave Indonesia over fears they may be targeted in the row over cartoons satirising the Prophet Muhammad. The foreign ministry says intelligence reports suggest an extremist group is actively seeking out Danes and Danish interests in Indonesia.

It is the most serious yet in a string of advisories issued by Copenhagen to Danish nationals in Muslim countries.

Denmark has temporarily shut its missions in Indonesia, Iran and Syria.

Embassy staff in the first two countries were withdrawn after threats were made against them, the Danish Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

Diplomatic staff were pulled out of Damascus because "Syrian authorities reduced their protection to an unacceptably low level", it said in an earlier statement.

As yet, no Danes have suffered injury despite the violence of the demonstrations that have swept across the Muslim world. The BBC's Julian Isherwood in Copenhagen says the intelligence reports are of such a concern to the foreign ministry, they are taking no chances.

'Imminent danger'

"Concrete information indicates than an extremist group wishes to actively seek out Danes in protest for the publication of the Prophet Muhammad cartoons," the ministry statement read, without naming the group.

10 Jan 2006: Norwegian publication reprints cartoons
26 Jan: Saudi Arabia recalls its ambassador

1 Feb: Papers in France, Germany, Italy and Spain reprint cartoons
4 Feb: Syrians attack Danish and Norwegian embassies in Damascus
5 Feb: Protesters set alight Danish embassy in Beirut
6-7 Feb: At least eight killed in Afghanistan as security forces try to suppress violent protests

All Danes should leave the country as soon as possible because they are facing "a significant and imminent danger," the statement went on.

The threat is currently concentrated on eastern Java, but may be extended to other parts of the country, including Bali, the ministry said.

Earlier, the ministry said the ambassador and expatriate staff at the embassy in Tehran had temporarily left due to "information about serious, concrete threats against the ambassador".

The Finnish embassy would take over Denmark's consular services in Iran and the Dutch embassy would do the same in Indonesia, the ministry said.

A few hours before that, the ministry announced the German embassy in Damascus would take over its consular business there while its mission was temporarily closed because Syria could not guarantee the safety of its staff.

Last Saturday, hundreds of protesters in Damascus hurled stones at the Danish embassy before scaling it, amid chants of "God is great". They then moved on to attack the Norwegian embassy.

The Danish embassy in the Lebanese capital, Beirut, has been empty since it was set alight by angry mobs last weekend.

People who had been paying attention to the Islamic world knew that the majority are barbaric pigs...but thanks to the murderous rioting even those with their heads buried in the sand are beginning to come to that same realization.

I was in Indonesia when the whole Koran in a toilet story came out. Guys went into my hotel looking for "Americans". It was not a fun time. The MSM didn't put that little story out though.

Islam is on the march. Until the Christian West reasserts itself in a major and violent way, we'll be terrorized by these barbarians. Is it too much to hope for given the crisis of confidence in the post-modern Western Civilization?

Watch the labels, though. This morning I almost bought a tin of "Danish cookies" at my local drugstore, until I saw it had been made in Brasil! Danes in the Amazon?

And, of course, it was a fabrication perpetrated by the MSM. Wonder if there is some avenue to sue them that would both give visibility to the event in Indonesia as well as the lying of the MSM that puts lives into jeopardy.

I have a feeling that if the "offending" countries which are leaving Indonesia, Syria and others were to state publicly that they would be forced to end their funding of project work in those countries then the Syria's, the Indonesia's and the others might rein in their rabble pretty quickly. They might even put out the msg, please return and bring your investment dollars with you.

Americans and Europeans should slowly pull the plug on investments in these countries. If it wasn't for oil, they would still be camel jockeys.

fears they may be targeted in the row over cartoons

This is NOT a row over cartoons any more than the War Between the States was a spat over use of the word "y'all." This is a campaign in a war and our side is being forced from the heights because our side thinks the other side is engaged in some sort of quaint ethnic dancing and singing.
