In most cases, there is evidence that the methane values only began to rise several decades after the temperature started to climb.

Didn't that happen with CO2 also?

Once it is gone the ocean will absorb heat from the sun further accelarating the warming process.

Then there will be more precipitation and the higher latitudes will cease to be deserts. Snow may accumulate at higher elevations such as the Labrador-Ungava Plateau causing the formation of Continental Glaciers.

There was a recent theory that giant gas bubbles were responsible for sinking ships in the Bermuda Triangle. Tests done in fancy simulators produced astounding results. The results indicated these bubbles could have brought down airplanes as well.

I recently bought Winchester's book "Krakatoa". It had fascinatig details on how this disaster played into the hands of radical muslims who had been schooled in Mecca during their haj, and helped overthrow the Dutch. I think the "year without summer" refers to the great Tambora volcano and occurred in 1816. Fascinating charts in Sigurdsson's "Encyclopedia of Volcanoes", 2000, show dramatic lowering of temperature in north east states, where every summer month had frost.

You may remember that after Pinitubo we had an extreme winter, followed not long after by a 500 year flood in the Mississippi.

I will try to find the article reversing the info on arctic sea ice melting, but if anyone knows the title, please tell me.

To M. Darencette: Yes, this could lead to norther glaciers, and that is exactly the problem. If the North Atlantic sea ice melts, water flowing north with the Gulf Stream will no longer get frozen, thereby increasing the salt concentration of the sea water. With increased salt the water sinks to the bottom and flows back to the Equator. Thus causing the Gulf Stream to flow north and help warm Europe which is much further north than the US. No sea ice, no salt concentration, no North Atlantic Deep Water, no Gulf Stream. No Europe??

Many people assume the greatest problem is global warming. The real danger is a drastic cooling rebound. We are already overdue for the next Ice Age.

In an effort to find out if the submarine data had been repudiated I entered at FR "submarine information on Srctic ice melting." I found at least 5 more articles on ice melting, but nothing about reversal of submarine data.

Visitors ignore extreme risks of advancing glaciers 

12 Jan 06 - The New Zealand Department of Conservation is 
worried that someone will be killed as giant chunks of ice fall from 
rapidly advancing glaciers. The risk of ice collapse at the face of 
the Fox and Franz Josef Glaciers is high and visitors are ignoring 
warning signs.

Both glaciers are advancing at the rate of about three feet 
(one meter) a week.

Would be great if they could figure out a way to collect methane clathrate before it melts, bring it to the surface, contain it and use it.

The climate could not only freeze them solid, it made for ice sheets large enough to gouge them out. (Think 2 miles thick).

I once heard frozen methane is responsble for disappearances in the Bermuda Triangle. Methane is poisonous and hence people who pilot airplanes and ships will lose control and it will crash.
