There's nothing at all about simultaneous proceedings, and given that the divorce judgement didn't come down until six months after his conviction, it seems far more likely that the divorce proceedings were on hold until the criminal trial worked itself out one way or the other.

In other words, this particular story's more than likely a piece of advocacy journalism.
