Me too. I can't take prescription, it just makes me sick the next day. I take OTC Unisom and it works like a charm.

Nothing is worse than sleeping in the same room (much less bed) with the infamous "Snorer-Thrasher

I call my DH the "Orca", because his nighttime antics remind me of those nature videos of whales breaching the surface of the ocean. He sort of shoots up out of the bed, flips over in midair, then lands with a crash (and it's a big crash, too - he's 6'2" and 260 lbs). Somehow I've been able to sleep through this for 15 years, just until lately.

Thank God the dog isn't sleeping with us anymore - she's too arthritic to jump on the bed anymore. Sleeping with The Orca and the 80 lb snoring Labrador in a queen size bed was...interesting...

Record Sales of Sleeping Pills Are Causing Worries

I'm all for the therapeutic use of the sleeping pills and thankful to
BIG EVIL PHARMA for developing the new ones...but folks should
read "Mao: The Untold Story" before using them.

Seems Mao and a number of his inner circle were heavy users of sleeping pills.

I know a lot of people who use Tylenol PM to get to sleep. I should think that would cut in on the profits of prescription sleeping pills.

I get mine via a compounding pharmacy. I have to mail in the paperwork, and I get about 30% of my money back, which is better than nothing.

No matter, they are worth every penny!

Since I stopped drinking (involuntarily) I've found it hard to relax my mind at night enough to drop off. I hadn't thought of going the sleeping pill route till now...

When I was 17, a doctor rx'd me 0.5mg Xanax to help with some anxiety-related issues. A couple years and a much higher daily dosage later, I suffered horribly while my body tried to adjust to the sudden withdrawl.

"If you sleep through the noise, you get kicked awake ;)"

Hi, my name's VRing and I'm a snorer/thrasher. After my wife and I got married we tried everything we could think of to let her get a good nights sleep. Pills, earplugs, whiskey (for me and her!) She said that the snoring she could deal with but my running in place always woke her up. The final straw was the night I woke to someone punching me in the face, turns out my legs somehow got twisted around hers and she was in real danger of being injured. I moved to a nice futon in the basement and we both get a solid nights sleep.

I tend towards Bailey's and Decaf. Sounds dodgy, but it works for me.

My whole family has struggled with insomnia. Last night I am lying wide awake at 1 a.m.

My Aunt who just passed used to paint until 4 a.m. My son really has it bad and has started taking Ambien, but it causes him vivid dreams that disturb him. My mom claims to have never had a decent night of sleep in her life and my Uncle stays up half the night.

IF that's true....I've had the big 'M' for 25 years then. I can fall asleep ok.....but I will wake up every 2 hours....and stay awake an hour or so....go back to sleep....wake up again....last night I only took ONE PM Tylenol.....and I was up at least 3 times.....no lie.

I feel sorry for your whole family. I started these pills at least 6 years ago when I went on day shift. I just HAVE stay asleep or I actually get nauseated and migraines at work. SO what's worse? Being addicted to pills.....or being sick at work all day and not being productive?
