What'd you do?
I was going to ask which RIF, but I don't think they RIF's aircrew in the early to mid 70s. They were some of the last to be allowed to get out early or transfer to the reserves.
My former reserve Detachment CO was RIF'd during that period, but he was an Intell officer, who had been the bearer of bad tidings. He retired from the Reserves as an 0-6, thus beating out the guy who had given him the less than stellar OER which led to the RIF. One of his proteges, who left active duty in the early 80s as an 0-3 intell officer (voluntarily, and basically because she was married to a civilian, I think, but never asked) should have pinned on her second star sometime last month, but may not have yet.
