The Steelers have played in the snow many times. Open the dome and let the snow in.

Instead of all the Hollywood hype, the game should be played in the stadium of the team in the game with the best record, or something along those lines, instead of it going to a 'sewer of a city' for political / monetary, or whatever reasons that have nothing to do with the game.

The cities and the fans (and teams) that put up the bucks, support and blood, sweat and tears for their teams to get to the Superbowl should be rewarded with the game in one of their hometowns, with large blocks of tickets reserved for fans of both teams, not just for big corporate junkets and the like. Someone complains that the Super Bowl site needs to be decided early on for all the festivities and arrangements - that's just the non-football hype talking; The playoff sites weren't decided until a week before, and for some reason, there's a two week break before the big game.

I did not know the private/public dollar mix. In my post, I said, if you build a stadium, you get the all star game or super bowl.

It is good to know that relatively public money was used.

I'm pretty sure the Tigers got the all star game after their stadium was built.

If you dump too much snow in a river, you can get a huge ice dam that floods upstream, and when the dam breaks, it floods downstream too.

Personally I think the game should be played alternately at the home field of the AFL and NFL champions.

Detroit River is quite wide with big lakes at both ends.

Anyway, we only got about 1 inch of snow.
