Lets hope it does not deteriorate once the fans arrive. Make sure there is plenty of food and water on hand.

I'd like the Seahawks to win, so Holmgren can be the first NFL coach to ever win TWO SuperBowls with TWO different teams. He did SO much for us when he was our coach. It was appreciated.
But if the Steelers win, that's fine, too. Everyone loves a Cinderella Story.
I'll be decked out tomorrow in my Packer garb either way. I'll be wearing my Reggie White jersey, for sure. :)

About 250 state and local plows will be on the roads in Detroit and throughout Wayne and Oakland counties...So Macomb County is just screwed, huh?

So were my Dad & my Grandpa. D@mn them for not keeping up those season tickets, LOL!
I've been to Lambeau twice. It's like church. It's just awesome.
Here's my favorite Vince quote for ya:
"You will be fired with enthusiasm, or you will be fired with enthusiasm!" LOL!
Our other "tradition" in the family is that when the men turn 40, they get an "old guy hat" like the one Vince used to wear:

I like football outdoors -- I don't see a need to go to a domed stadium in Detroit for the Super Bowl.

Staytrue, please see my post no. 43. The taxpayers did not fund Ford Field. The Lions and the Fords paid $300 million. Wayne County voters authorized a tax on hotel rooms to kick in $60 million for site clearance/utilities (to offset the cost advantage of building in the cornfields.) In exchange, Wayne County will own the stadium in 18 years. This is one of the best stadium deals in the country and everyone seems to ignore it.

Detroit and Wayne County suck waaaay to much state money in...with little to show for it.Not true. The State funds roads and education in Wayne County and not much else. The DIA and the symphony get a miniscule grant (under $1 million) and that's it.
You want to see a county suck dollars, check out what how much the State is paying to fund infrastructure in Livingston, western Oakland and northern Macomb counties.

Don't take offense at my cavalier attitude, but up here we consider anything south of Clare and east of Lansing at Detroit! Introductions to folks from downstate will include "They're from Livonia"... we get a blank look until the person doing the introducing says "it's by Detroit" and then we nod knowingly. Boy, we really are hicks!

the city has a plan to truck the snow out of downtown to several vacant lots Why can't they just dump it in the Detroit River?

Why can't they just dump it in the Detroit River?Because they don't have to. There's lots of greenspace separating the river from the roads. The snow can be dumped there much more easily than coming up with a complicated scheme to dump snow in the river.

Have you heard Jerry Kramer's Secret Tapes yet?
Coach Lombardi's last game as GB coach was SB II. Kramer took a tape recorder into the locker room.

I hear you. It's just that Detroit has real problems and instead of focusing on them, we're working overtime inventing phoney ones. Like, "The State dumps piles of money on Detroit and it all goes down the drain" when, in fact, the State doesn't do anything for Detroit that it doesn't do for every other community; roads and education. There are no "special programs" for Detroit.
I was reading a thread about Detroit in fark.com a few days ago. Posters were going on and on about Coleman Young, the people mover, a scandal involving funding chauffeurs for schoool board members and the rioting. You know what? Coleman Young has been out of office for 13 years. The people mover is 20 years old. That school board scandal was in 1983 and the Tigers riot was in 1982. It's just frustrating that we can't tackle the real problems here because we're too busy either inventing fake issues or dwelling on ancient history.
/end rant

The NFL films video on that SB opens with fans freezing as they made their way into the Silver Dome. Cue the booming voice of John Faceda and the music from Sam Spence. Those films gave me goosebumps.
To: IndyTiger
Open up that dome and have 'em wrestle, push and shove in the snow! The Rolling Stones could use a little cooling too!
