Two-thirds majority backs joint military action to thwart Iran’s nuclear program

As President Bush reaffirms his intention to thwart Iran’s efforts to develop nuclear weapons, a wide majority of Americans favor military action together with allies to prevent Iran from realizing those efforts, a new Zogby Interactive survey shows.

In his State of the Union speech Tuesday night, Bush declared that Iran “is defying the world with its nuclear ambitions, and the nations of the world must not permit the Iranian regime to gain nuclear weapons. America will continue to rally the world to confront these threats.”

The comprehensive new Zogby poll shows that 64% of respondents favor joint U.S.-European military intervention to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons, and 63% favor joint military action with the United Nation to stop Iran’s nuclear program. Another 47% would support unilateral military action by the U.S. against Iran.

“These are surprising findings for me,” said Pollster John Zogby, President and CEO of Zogby International, who said a majority of “Americans are telling us that they would prefer we pack our bags and leave Iraq now.”

“And yet, Americans appear ready to do some damage to Iran if it proceeds with its nuclear program. They are not necessarily ready to stand on the front lines by themselves. They would prefer that Israel take the lead, or that it be a joint effort with Europe or the United Nations. But still, it is surprising that Americans are this militant,” Zogby said.

On line poll.
I decided to take this one. Comprehensive?
Many questions were loaded for planned results.
Of course you would want Israel or someone to take out the Iranian facilities before choosing US.

Americans "militant"? What about them? They are the militants. Most percieve a real threat, and as I do, believe OBL is in Tehran or some cushy suburb, and is probably the last of the Arab strongholds for "militant" state based terrorism. Don't doubt that this is escalating the WoT.

Zogby is an Arab. His brother James is a blatant cheerleader for the militants.

As soon as we take action, the libs who voted to do it will be whining about how we shouldn't have done it, it is all Bush's fault, we killed innocent people, etc. Business as usual, I've got them figured out (not hard to do).

So why does/does not support this escalation? Is this for our convenience that Iran, Syria, North Korea and Venezuela are grouping themselves as rogues?

John Zogby has to be much more circumspect than his brother. You'll not likely hear him spouting extreme positions.

Lemme see... if the Democrats' suicidal instincts are intact, this calls for "peace" protests, slander of our high officials and our military, and "human shield" volunteers for all of Iran's target sites.

So, the entire civilized world is screaming that someone needs to stop the Iranian government from developing weapons of mass destruction.

And if the United States military steps up to take care of it then I suppose that everyone will then scream that we are being imperialistic and are trying to steal oil from the poor Iranians...but only if a Republican is commander-in-chief.

"So, the entire civilized world is screaming that someone needs to stop the Iranian government from developing weapons of mass destruction."

If you will recall, they did the same thing about Iraq RIGHT AFTER 911. Every paper in the country started writing articles about Sadaam and his WMD(BLAHBLAHBLAH) before we ever even went into Afghanistan to remove the Taliban! When the dems/lefties didn't want to go to Afghanistan....they screamed bloody murder about Sadaam/Iraq. Now that they want us to get out of Iraq(cut & run)..they are screaming about Iran. It is typical operating procedures for them.

The Euroweenies won't particapate in ANY bombing campagin on Iran... They would want our president to be even more damaged by the left by bombing Iran, so Europe will huff and puff about us bombing Iran.
