but I urge Muslims to sever political and economic relations with any country using "freedom of expression" as an excuse to manifest hate for them.

Does this include false religions that advocate violence against infidels?

This obvious terrorist linked scumbag should be first on the list when the next attack on America occurs.

He is here protected in the USA using our freedom of speech and not in some desert hellhole.

He should leave while he can.

He was hoping without the need for the region's oil, the United States would be less inclined to involve itself in the area's politics.

Is this tantamount to denial of 9/11?

The only reasonable thing I got from that whole article was "boycott Muslim businesses."

Well golly, as long as the Muslims are going to withdraw their support for Western-made goods and swallow their pride and take up non-violent means of suffering through such rabid oppression as they experience in and from the West, why shouldn't they go the extra mile and GET THE HELL OUT OF THOSE ROTTEN COUNTRIES THAT TREAT THEM LIKE DIRT, STOP USING THOSE EVIL CEL PHONES, DUMP THEIR COMPUTERS AND FLUSH TOILETS and go back to the serene, peaceful, and beautifully functioning countries they came from?

then....everybody'd be happy ...right?

"Independent - 48 minutes ago
More than 150 hard-line Muslims stormed into a high-rise building housing the Danish Embassy in Jakarta today to protest against the publication of caricatures of the Prophet Mohamed. ..." Just on Google.

This is not about Islamic sensitivites it is about POWER. Give into this stuff and our freedoms will be decided by islam.

Then I think the author should live by example and MOVE.

It wasn't Bush or America screaming 'God is Great' as they murdered innocent people going to work without warning.

OBL has done everything in his power to make it a religious war.

Sooner or later we're going to oblige.

Fifteen million Muslims in Europe and 8 million in America have been subjected to alienation, discrimination, cultural, political and legal barriers by governments and citizens alike, all done in the name of security or freedom of expression.

To deal with this, Arab and Muslim peoples SHOULD BUY A ONE WAY TICKET TO THE MIDDLE EAST AND BE DONE WITH IT.

Excellent! Let's remove all US money and infrastructure from the Middle East (except Israel). Then, we can deport all those non-Native Americans from the Middle East back from whence they came. They can feel free to live, love and worship as they please with no interference on the part of the US - and when they have nothing to eat except camel dung soup and nowhere to sell their only valuable commodity (oil) maybe then we can make a deal. The top priority must be to close down the borders right now before it's too late and the sovereign US becomes part of a global nightmare.

May God bless America!

It occurs to me that many Muslims are very much like spouse abusers. They do some terrible thing, then blame the victim and cry "you made me do it."

I agree with the previous post saying that Islam must be a pretty fragile faith if a few poorly drawn cartoons can threaten it!

There's a big difference in being free and doing free. Doing free means you sometimes have to just suck it up and tolerate the slings of outrageous fortune.

re :First, they need to borrow from Gandhi's book and its emphasis on resistance without violence, for violence only gives Western society the incentive and excuse to interfere in their lives.

If they had remained peaceful from the start we would not be in the middle of a bloody war.

They are the ones who define them self's by what they hate.

They don't like the West then FO.

Only by becoming truly independent will they be able to stand up to the nonsense coming from Washington, London, Amsterdam, Copenhagen and elsewhere.

Does this mean he'll be making himself "truly independent" from the West and going back to live in the glorious Muslim world?

The more I hear about this "Mohammed cartoon" silliness, the more I'm reminded of the haggling that goes on the a rug bazaar -- lots of noise, lots of drama, lots of manuevering, plenty of intimidation -- all to push an incremental point.

If we cave on this free speech issue, it'll only be a matter of time until the Muslim world presses for more. And then more.

Screw 'em. The Muslim world first needs to atone for the kidnapping and behading of innocents. THEN maybe we can talk about some silly-a$$ cartooning.

Sent to the good professor as email:
I read your article in the San Antonio Express-News about Muslim satire. I am confused.
While you pay lip service to nonviolence it is not being practiced by Muslim activists. You declare that the US interferes in the business of other countries when they are violent. Is this somehow inappropriate? Clearly the US has no interest in overthrowing peace loving governments.
The fault, sir, and there are many, lie with your Muslim compatriots who seek to enforce their religious beliefs by violence. "Death to the infidels" is a cry we have come to fear.
The US will not long endure violence in our midst without retaliating. Our actions in Afganistan and Iraq have been measured and deliberate. We have removed tyrannical governments that opressed Muslims and presented a threat to world peace. When Muslims cease instilling fear in the non Muslim world they (you) will find greater tolerance.
I am certain that you do not see matters in the same light. There is, however, one God, by any name, and He loves his children to be at peace with each other.
