Chavez Announces Wage Hike in Venezuela

CARACAS, Venezuela — Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez announced a 15-percent hike in the minimum wage Thursday.
"Starting from yesterday, we increase the minimum wage by 15 percent," Chavez said during the televised celebration of his seven years in office.
He also increase the minimum wage last year. The latest increase brings the minimum wage to about 466,000 bolivars (US$217;euro180) a month.
