We realize that our family is going through something that thousands of military families have experienced over the last three years since the war began and throughout our history. Bob's name may be more recognizable but his story is no more important. He would be the first to insist that the attention should be focused on the members of the U.S. military whose heroic actions he has reported on for years.

Like I said on another thread, we do not WANT the MSM filming every coffin and trying to cover every bad injury.

Even if the MSM wasn't against national security, the concentration on injuries and deaths would sabotage the will of the electorate.

Greek democracy collapsed under similar circumstances. Rome collapsed partly because Roman men didn't want to get hurt by serving in the armies anymore.

It can backfire bigtime to criticize the MSM for covering Woodruff's injuries...

It may be too late. I predict an immediate drive by the left and some MSM members to be able to film coffins.

Is there any way, unobtrusive of course, that people could get in touch with the family and thank them for this? This kind of stuff needs to be rewarded with thank yous of appreciation.

They had said they read the support emails and appreciate them - maybe on the ABC website - not sure.

The MSM would only be too glad to have, every day, a newly injured soldier or fresh coffin to "cover as newsworthy like we covered Woodruff as newsworthy".

The MSM made sure they did just that during Vietnam.

Believe me, we don't want this. It is has been military policy to prevent it.

Meanwhile, I wish there was an email address we could write to in order to give Bob Woodruff our best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Classy.

A lot less self-serving than we could expect from Bill Clinton if he was injured in Iraq.

And the MSM will NOW take the hint, surely!

Now they won't, and don't call me Shirley!

Whatever! With the MSM bias, who's to believe this BS? They want a body count and that's all. They have no interest in honoring any military service member, ever!

Woodruff Family Statement

'Positive Thoughts, Good Wishes Have Sustained Us'

Feb. 1, 2006 — - "World News Tonight" anchor Bob Woodruff's wife, Lee Woodruff, issued the following statement in response to the support she and her family have received since her husband was injured in Iraq:

Now that we finally have Bob back in the United States, on behalf of my children and the entire Woodruff family, I want to thank everyone for the overwhelming outpouring of support and love we've received from around the country and around the world.

Your positive thoughts, prayers and good wishes have sustained us over the last 72 hours as we have experienced the highs and lows of this emotional roller coaster. Bob could not have made the progress he has to date without the unbelievable care he received from the military in Iraq, Germany and now, Bethesda. Simply put, they saved his life. There are no words to express our gratitude.

We realize that our family is going through something that thousands of military families have experienced over the last three years since the war began and throughout our history. Bob's name may be more recognizable but his story is no more important. He would be the first to insist that the attention should be focused on the members of the U.S. military whose heroic actions he has reported on for years.

From the first moment, Bob's ABC News family has done everything and anything they could to support us during this difficult period. Bob is blessed with friends and colleagues who love him mightily. The feeling is mutual.

We are so encouraged by the reports we've received from the doctors. While the coming weeks will bring a number of challenges, we're confident Bob's strength and feisty determination will make possible his recovery and return to the work he loves doing.
