11,500 Dead Washingtonians Still Registered To Vote

EVERETT - A statewide computer sweep of voter registration records in Washington found 11,500 voters listed as dead by the state Health Department.

The sweep this month also found 36,000 voters who appear to be registered in two counties. The manager of the new $6 million database project, Pam Floyd, says the names have been flagged for further scrutiny.

Snohomish County immediately canceled the voter registrations for the more than 1,400 dead people.

The state has 3.5 million registered voters.

Monthly sweeps are planned for duplicate and deceased voters. In March, officials plan to create the first comprehensive list of felons whose voting rights are in question.

She can only be recalled for offenses committed while in office. The bar is purposely set very high by the politicians themselves - regardless of party.

Bizarre article...11,500 listed as dead, but they only cancelled 1400 of them. Must be the dead Republicans.

"Any wagers on what party the vast majority belong to?"

Rhetorical question?

Like there's any doubt?

This brings up a valid point, actually. If I registered to vote 10 years ago, and I die .... who goes around and 'un-registers' me from those rolls?

I'm registered in Washington state (I was 4 years ago), but I moved back to Texas (woo-hoo!!), who goes around and deletes my voting priveledges from the Olympa records?

Then, with so many people who do NOT register; but show up at the polls with their drivers license in hand, what is the point of registering to vote?

Too late. Election was certified and sealed many months ago. We're stuck with her for the next three years.

Rhetorical question?

Well, yes, unless you'd like to bet against me and just send me a check now.

They are not dead, just soon to be disenfranchised. ACLU will have a lawsuit against this project in no time.

This is part and parcel of why Democrats are natural allies of dictators and terrorists. They only believe in elections if they are elected. Otherwise, voter intimidation and fraud are OK. Classic "means justifies the ends (their power)" leftist thinking -- and action.

Typical news article. It doesn't bother to explain who is doing the computer sweep to weed out dead voters.

I THINK it's the Washington Secretary of State's office, because Pam Grant is listed as working in that office a year ago, here:

http://www.secstate.wa.gov/Elections/hava/HAVA_board_meeting_minutes_012005.aspx

But, who knows? Why can't newspaper reporters bother to learn about the five Ws?
