NEW DELHI - A landmark nuclear deal between India and the United States will “die” in Washington if New Delhi supports Iran at the upcoming meeting of the U.N. atomic watchdog agency, the U.S. ambassador said Wednesday.
A week before the International Atomic Energy Agency meets to discuss Iran’s nuclear program, U.S. Ambassador David Mulford said that if India does not vote to refer Tehran to the U.N. Security Council, it would be “devastating” to the deal currently before the U.S. Congress.
“I think the Congress will simply stop considering the matter,” Mulford told the Press Trust of India news agency.

at least pakistan (government at least) has been a loyal ally for 50 years. I wonder which side india will take.
I mean india sided against us in the cold war, gulf war, Gulf war II and now in the dispute with Iran. India defenders, what do you say to india siding with Iran against us here? At what point do you say a country is not a friend?

I don't know if I'm an 'India defender' but you should consider that India has not sided with Iran yet, but actually their most recent vote was with us. Concern over their next vote is, of course, warranted, for the reasons you state; but stick to the facts, not the rumors or 'hesitance' reported in the papers.

This has been going on for decades. India is another one of those so-called allies that has never done a thing for the US. Anyone who thinks India will help us out on this Iran matter is living on another planet. The Security Council will most likely do nothing of about Iran regardless of what India does, so it is all but a moot point. This matter will be left up to NATO and possibly just the US, Britain, France, and Austrailia.

I think Pakistan is the one that is more likely to side with Iran on this one. India is now a major player. I think they realize this and realize the responsibilities associated with such.
India has a lot of anti-American leftists as part of its ruling coalition. However, its leaders must know that they have a binary choice with respect to Iran. If they vote against holding Iran to account - they will set back relations between India and the US a great deal.

As to your question on who i am, it is complelty irrelevant to the discussion. Where i am from and who i am does not change the fact that india might back Iran this time. Your tactic is a common logical fallacy called poisioning the well. Some how if i am pakistani or a muslim, it will negate this article i have posted about india possibly siding with the mullas in Iran. You have to stoop to this level because you have nothing to support your side.

Who you are is very relevant to what you say. I'd discount a post by an Armenian against Turkey or by a Muslim against Israel. As to your thread, you failed to note in your excerpt that India had voted with the US and the EU and against Iran just months back. Yet in your listing of alleged anti-US acts by India you say "and now Iran" as if India had already stated it's decision to go against us on Iran. This follows a pattern of posts by you on threads pertaining to that part of the world where you jumped in to selectively use excerpts. Such sneaky behavior naturally begs suspicion as to what your agenda is.
What difference does it make where he is from? Everything he posted about India is true. India didn't back us during the Cold War, Vietnam, Desert Storm, or Iraqi Freedom. The last time they supported us was during WWII when they had the Japanese closing in on them.
And you wouldn't necessarily have to get an Armenian to post negatively against Turkey. You could just find a Greek, Slav, Kurd, Arab, or one of the other ethnic groups that they committed genocide and war crimes against. You can often learn the most about a nation from its enemies.
India is trying to join the Russia-China alliance, and gets a lot of oil from Iran.
Yes, India was against us for much if the 20th century but the cold war is over. France was allied to us all those years but it isn't today. Poland was our enemy then but is allied to us now. The Bush administration has made it a main feature of its foreign policy to reach out to like minded nations irrespective of the past. Forging an alliance with India is a key part of that new policy. Are you telling me that we should let the Cold War alliance dictate who our allies will be in the 21st century? Is the Bush policy wrong?
