OSAMA bin Laden, even in hiding, may still be able to mastermind a major terrorist attack inside the United States, a senior aide to US President George W. Bush said.
Asked whether the al-Qaeda chief could engineer such a strike, Bush adviser Dan Bartlett told CBS television: "We have to assume that he can. We have to be very vigilant in what we do to protect our country."
His remarks came as the Bush administration waged an aggressive campaign to defend a controversial program by the National Security Agency (NSA) to intercept US citizens' international telephone calls and electronic mail.
They also followed the broadcast of a new audiotape that the CIA has confirmed is of bin Laden, in which he threatens new attacks inside the United States.
"I can tell you that intelligence officials, counterterrorism officials across the government have obviously studied this tape very closely. We take all threats very seriously," said Mr Bartlett.
"Our country has been very fortunate that we haven't been attacked since 9/11, but we can't take that for granted. We can't become complacent," he said.
Hmmm...nope - I'm still not scared of OBL.
He can do all the planninghe wants but communication of his plans to his operatives is difficult from hell.
But the Dems say there is no threat...
-----
Yeah, especially with our WIDE-OPEN BORDERS...no threat at all -- we are well protected from any foreign threat.
And pigs fly.
Yes, anyone can do that from a cave but 'implementing' is the tricky part.
For a minute there, I thought that was the name of a new democrat sponsored bill in the house and senate.
Not to worry, though, the demonrats most likely will try to pass some law to give terrorists "rights" to kill us all.
It's surely only a matter of time before they do...
Absolutely.
Al Qaeda is already in the country. They are in the DNC, DU , Moveon.org and MSM.
I guess you don't live in Detroit then?
Sure he can. And I can plan making a pornographic movie with 12 Brazilian supermodels.
"I guess you don't live in Detroit then?"
No sensible person would.
