I really, really hate to say this, but didn't the US govt. have a habit of putting a number of federal facilities in close proximity to day care centers (Murrah building in OKC for example) ?

A pre-emptive strike to take out rogue nuke capability ain't the same thing as (rumor has it) Jihadi-assisted truck bombs against the US govt. under auspices of ultra-libertarian right-supremacist whatnots, granted...

But involving the children at all does grate on my nerves.

I say if the enemy uses it's own children like this then we have no responsibility to avoid making them casualties. We arent going to win any war by being nice. I could care less about their hearts and minds when it comes to protecting our cities from getting nuked. Truman was faced with a million US casulaties invading Japan. What steps did he take to protect Japanese children in Hiroshima and Nagasaki? People need to get real.

I know this is going to sound cold, but F the children. Horrors of war. Review what Caesar did when Vercingetorix sent all the women and children out of his stronghold during the battle of Alesia.
