Former Gov. James E. McGreevey, who resigned from office in 2004 after acknowledging a gay affair, has written a blog with gay rights activist and author David Mixner. Their first topic was about efforts to combat poverty in McDowell County, W.Va., and focused on the odyssey of one local woman who survived two battered marriages and now is part of that work. "The Amazing Marsha Timpson" is a five-part article that runs to nearly 9,000 words on www.huffingtonpost.com, a news and opinion Web site launched last year by political commentator Arianna Huffington, a onetime candidate for California governor. Timpson said yesterday that she got a copy of the piece from Mixner before the first installment hit the Internet last week. "I was a little bit surprised. I thought it would be more about the community center," she said. Even so, "I think he honored me," said Timpson, 52, of War, W.Va. "Even though it was a little personal, he made me feel special, so I took it as a compliment." She recalled that McGreevey and Mixner visited her home one afternoon about a year ago to interview her and wound up staying until 11:30 p.m. "They were real nice to us," Timpson said, although she felt a closer connection with Mixner: "We both have big mouths and talk a lot, and our personalities meshed." She took the men around the area over the next several days, but doubted that many residents realized they were meeting the former New Jersey governor when she introduced "Jim McGreevey." "People just took them at face value," Timpson said. Some of the people who posted their comments to the blog found it inspirational, as Timpson hoped they would, but most remarks were aimed at McGreevey. "It seems that people were more interested in being angry at McGreevey than the story," Timpson said. Indeed, one poster said: "Mr. McGreevy, I am a liberal from New Jersey, and the way you messed things up for us, I would appreciate your leaving the public stage for a long time! It would be best for all of us if you would 'lay low!' It is NOT because of your sexuality that I say this, but because of your lack of ethics! You hurt our cause, more than you apparently realize!" Another made reference to Golan Cipel, an Israeli whom McGreevey appointed to a homeland security post in 2002 who had to abandon the job because as a foreigner he could not obtain security clearance. Sources close to McGreevey identified the man in the affair as Cipel, who has denied being gay or having the affair. The comment said, "While I'm posting to a blog by James McGreevey, I'd like to take the opportunity to mention that I think the circumstances of your hiring an inamorato to a post in New Jersey state government are going to take quite a bit of explaining in your forthcoming autobiography." But another poster offered, "Jimmy, you may have found your niche. It's a tough road, to redemption, but telling stories like this, in this manner, is such a road." Huffington, reached in Los Angeles, said the series, which went online from Jan. 11 to 18, "got a tremendous response." "I'd invited David to blog when we started. He's a friend of mine," Huffington said. She has not met McGreevey but hopes they will write more. "They have a password, which means they can blog whenever they want," she said.
a homo says what?
I dont't like the visual. McGreevey launching anything... ish.
Bareback McGreevey hasn't figured out that he should drop off the face of the earth? Good. He is the perfect "face of the Democrat Party." I hope he stays in the public eye for a long time as a reminder of what the Democrats are all about.
I'll bet his review of humpback mountain was four stars. Does he use "gay American" as his screen name?

Any Republican governor would have been arrested for putting his lover on the state payroll like that. What a double standard!
What is he blogging about? The Premiere of Bareback Mountain?
What domain name did he pick www.thedailygerbal.com ?
