Good evening Troops, Veterans, family members, Canteen, and Lurkers:

The Canteen Music Mayhem is up and running!!

Tonight's theme: History Of Rock *n* Roll Pt. II. Next week will be the final installment of our journey back.

So? Enjoy our adventure from 1900 through 1959.

Want to make requests? Here's how you do it:

Email us at musicrequests4u@gmail.com . We will respond as soon as we can.

Ping laurenmarlowe on the thread unless the music is inappropriate for children or Ma--then you ping MoJo2001.

FReepmail laurenmarlowe with your requests. Although, it would be just as easy to ping her.

Also, if you are making requests and don't know the title of the song...please Google it first before requesting us to do it. We are extremely busy on Friday nights and that can slow the process down.

Because I like to see myself typing all the time, I shall repeat again: Drumbo doesn't use a ping list. So? Please stop writing to ask about it.

If you enjoy the music of a specific Canteen Deejay, drop them a FReepmail line or email us where you would send the Music Requests. They work hard to bring our Troops music on a daily and weekly basis. They do this for free because Mr.Tonkin's too cheap to pay anyone around here. (We believe the money disappeared with Mr.Goat. Hehe!)

If you are new to our Music Mayhem and are interested in joining our Canteen Music Ping List, please keep the following in mind:

First, this particular thread is very fast and sometimes we can't get to everyone. We try.

Second, before you write to us wanting your name added...you could be pinged 100 or more times on Friday night and all day on Saturday. If this is something that doesn't bother you, then add your name. This is an EXTREMELY HIGH PING LIST!

Third, we are happy to remove anyone's name that finds themselves overwhelmed.

Fourth, this music thread is for the entertainment purposes of our Troops, Veterans, and their families.

Also, the Canteen Deejays play a variety of music. Anything on the market right now or since 1900, we will play at some point this year. So? If you don't find something you like, you won't have to wait long to find something that suits you. Or you can request.

FYI : Look in upper right corner of "My Comments" page.
Set it for "Brief" instead of Full.
You only will get title of thread and who pinged you.
No graphics will load.

Good evening. I remember listening to most of that music. I had not heard of some of them, though.

The World Without

Read:
Matthew 23:13-23

You pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have neglected the weightier matters of the law: justice and mercy and faith. —Matthew 23:23

Bible In One Year: Exodus 1-3; Matthew 14:1-21

cover Personal faith in Christ comes with social obligations. If we believe that He reigns as Lord over history as well as Lord over our individual lives, we dare not focus solely on the "world within" and forget the "world without." Restricting His sovereignty to our personal struggles demeans Him. What do we imply about the Savior when we seek God's will about moving to another city or marrying someone, but never seek His mind on the plight of the homeless, the rights of the unborn, or racial equality?

Cultivating the inner life, vital as that is, without struggling with social issues is too limited and soft. We must think about how Christ wants us to respond to the unjust situations in our community and the world at large.

On the other hand, to emphasize social concern without stressing devotion to the Lord resembles dancing on one foot. If we are deeply committed to a cause but not deeply committed to Christ, we may trade away the power of God for the power of politics.

Ungodly people refuse to acknowledge Christ's lordship in their decisions. But what excuse can we as Christians offer when we forget that His rule over "the world within" also extends to "the world without"? —Haddon Robinson

If I can right a human wrong,
If I can help to make one strong,
If I can cheer with smile or song,
Lord, show me how. —Kleiser

One measure of our likeness to Christ is our sensitivity to the suffering of others.
