Nope. In my four trips around the world, the closest I got was Cairo in the early-mid '60's.
OK, take the worst part of Cairo, bulldoze it, add a hundred years of animal crap and a few dead animals and you have a fair idea of the best parts of the Horn of Africa....I'd stay in Norway too, even though they are socialist Quisling's.
