Well, people can do whatever they want. My point is that repealing laws like this that have been carefully crafted and put into place are not likely to be repealed.
In fact, the likelihood is near zero.
If they outlaw paint, only outlaws will have paint.
I don't know why I always like your posts elkfersupper... But I do! You are correct, trying to repeal onerous traffic laws, regulation, or enforcement that borders on tyranny is very very difficult. "Conservatives" posting on FR are so law and order oriented that they support "no knock" entries, roadblocks, cameras, and speed traps. Now don't misunderstand, I am firmly opposed to dangerous driving habits such as aggressive driving, non courteous behavior on the roads, tail gating etc. But most of the traffic enforcement or "traffic calming" measures I see are designed to maximize city revenue and or control, not intended to promote safety. Try and oppose signal cameras, or cops hiding in the bushes at the bottom of steep hills, or speed zones that come on suddenly. You will be amazed at all the "law and order" conservatives that will defend the right of the government to stop you, search you, and file you away for future reference and revenue at the whim of an 18 year old high school dropout.
Screw the cameras and those who ordered them put in place.
Glad to have you aboard, neighbor and FRiend!
This doesn't "allow people to run red lights" with impunity as this guy states. What is wrong with having the police actually do their job and nail the people running red lights the way it used to be done? Accidents have increased in the cities that utilize these cameras. There will be no more people running red lights now than in the past before cameras. The safety hazard will not increase and some accidents will go down.
Cameras are nothing but a revenue increaser, authorities don't give a crap about decreasing accidents as evidenced in the way they ignore the statistics and reality of the cameras, they care about increasing fines.
as a libertarian, if the way is clear after stop, then why not... personal responsibility comes with operating the car and libertarian thinking... right on red after stop... why not left and straight as well... if the coast is clear.
teeman
flame away but many a night i have waited at a red light when no traffic was in sight.
cameras that manipulate yellows are the only profitable cameras... lengthen the yellows and eliminate the revenue.
Very well said, I agree!
In Sacramento the police were forced to stop sending fines because of law suits. I think they can send them again now but no longer live there so I can't say for sure.
The problem with being a 100% literal libertarian is that sometimes you have to leave your house.
Only the evolutionists want that.
You're right. You never ACCUSED me of anything. I guess I misunderstood the simple words that came out of your mouth. You're like a pitcher who throws curve balls and when someone hit's it out of the park, you claim it was a fast ball that you took a little off.
Thus Civil Disobedience.
"The People" across the country in many Black areas have not accepted traffic-light cameras. the moral wrong of robbing and killing Whites. By their actions they are declaring it IS NOT "wrong". They do not need to justify this. "The People" are sovereign. They dictate. Obviously the political whores aren't listening.
Thus Civil Disobedience Libertarian Mental Masterbation.
It's all about pork to buy votes and generating more revenue to buy even more votes. on the City Council you have Billy Bob, who knows someone who knows someone who's company needs a nice juicy contract to supply camera equipment in exchange for a campaign contribution.
Ergot, ABC electronics now has cameras at intersections all over the city. All for public safety of course.
They would obey them more if there weren't so draconian.
Realistically, how fast do you think 25 mph is, which is the most common speed limit on most city streets? I mean, that's barely touching the accelerator speed.
Plus school zones. I can see slowing down on school days, but even on weekends and evenings these are still enforced. Nothing but cash cow for local governments.
That's because big-government Republicans erect stoplights up on every intersection.
Except during rush hours, the average speed limit on NYC streets seems to be something slightly below "light."
