Just as, during the months long breathing spell and strategizing time out it afforded Saddam's Iraq, he earlier accomodated the infantile UN-oriented whims of Tiny 'Yapping' Blair and Straw et al and of life-long Peter-Principle-Poster-Person and Republican Party and Bush Family blind-spot-occupant Colin Powell.
And created the current Iraqi killing fields.

Like you I guess, I was unable to grasp the dallying with Iraq. The guy (Saddam) was playing for time and no good was going to come of it.
The world has seen people gassed in ovens, whole nations ethnically cleansed, mountains of skills in sports stadiums, stood and watched as 9/11 unfolded and we still cannot look evil in the eye and call it by it's name.
Bush did the best he could...with the 'oh so prissy' state of the world around him.
