OK, so his death sentence for killing the journalist was commuted to "life in prison," and "life in prison" means 36 years. Let's allow that bit of illogic to sink in.
OK, so he's going to serve 36 years in prison. But that includes the 20 years he served in Italy for *another* crime? WTF?
And then they say that the 6 months he had served in a Turkish prison for another crime, before *escaping*, also counts towards the 36 years?
Turkey has managed to adopt the worst excesses of European liberalism and coddling of criminals while adopting none of its important civil rights traditions.
