Scientists Trying Prozac To Cure Depression
POSTED: 11:06 am EST January 10, 2006
Even hamsters get the blues.
Researchers at Ohio State University say they've done a study suggesting the rodents may get depressed during the winter, just as many humans do.
They say their findings also seem to show that winter's darker days can weaken the immune system, explaining why illnesses such as the flu occur more often at this time of year.
In the study, some hamsters were exposed to 16 hours of light per day, others to just eight hours. After about two months, the researchers found the hamsters that spent less time in the light ate less and appeared more anxious.
As the study continues, student lab assistants are trying to treat the depressed hamsters with Prozac.
John? Is that you?
They don't get enough sunlight.

Gerbils are known to be natural spelunkers.
Better keep them away from Mossbergs.

My daughters hamster escaped last Saturday and has yet to appear although a very bad smell has appeared radiating from our heating ducts on Wednesday. He too has fallen into the heating ducts. I checked two ducts and have not found him.
How long will this take? Did you ever find yours? I've tried fabreez, candles and spray but the smell comes back ..
Any suggestions?
Send them to Hawaii for a little R&R !
No, we sold the house (in the summer when the heating wasn't on).
I called a vent cleaning company, they want $800 for the first 15 chambers..don't know how much longer I'll hold out.. my husband finally has decided that it stinks.
Getting to not want to go home.
