Cheney Arrives at Work After Health Scare

WASHINGTON — Vice President Dick Cheney arrived for work at the White House Monday afternoon after resting at his residence following an overnight visit to George Washington Hospital for shortness of breath.

Cheney has a long history of heart problems and has a pacemaker but it appears that his complications are related to an anti-inflammatory medication he was taking for a foot problem.

Cheney was seen Friday using a cane. He told workers at the Harley-Davidson factory he was touring in Kansas City, Mo., that he needed the assistance because "(Defense Secretary) Don Rumsfeld has been chewing on my ankles."

The vice president was taken to the hospital in a government car after complaining about difficulty breathing, said Lea Anne McBride, a spokeswoman for Cheney.

An electrocardiogram was performed on him and doctors determined it was unchanged. Doctors eventually determined he was retaining fluid because of the medication. Cheney was placed on a diuretic and was released around 7:30 a.m. EST, about four-and-a-half hours after being admitted.

So, is the scene being set for Cheney's resignation "for health reasons" and Condi's being appointed VP?

Or, is that too Machiavellian?

I think we might have to watch this space.

I reckon Cheney is too important to the Administration to be lost.

The relevant part of Ammendment XXV.

Section 2. Whenever there is a vacancy in the office of the Vice President, the President shall nominate a Vice President who shall take office upon confirmation by a majority vote of both Houses of Congress.

Glad to see he's doing well.
It's a relief.
One of the guys in the office said this:
Dick Cheney likes President Bush very much.
But we all know, that Hillary likes Bush more than Dick.

"Vice President Dick Cheney arrived for work..."

Work? What work? Is there a funeral to attend? A secret agent to "out"? A wiretap to connect? A call to make for Halliburton? (sarcasm)

Come on, we're talking about Dick Cheney here. The worst this could be is another heart attack and he brushes those off like lint off a sport coat.

Cheney isn't going anywhere. Bush doesn't want Cheney to leave, Cheney doesn't want to leave, and I sure as heck don't want Cheney to leave. I don't think we have to worry about the 25th amendment being invoked anytime soon.

Hey, if I had a magic wand...

We'd be calling him President Cheney.

Here is the proof of him back to work yesterday which must have been late afternoon/early evening as it looks fairly dark outside

President George W. Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney attend a meeting with the members of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and the Combatant Commanders in the Cabinet Room, Monday January 9, 2006, at the White House. The Combatant Commanders are part of the Unified Command Plan responsible for the geographic military operations around the world.
