I think this is going to be either a really boring day or a really boring day where Senators make 15 minute speeches on how Judge Alito will turn back time and destroy not only our Country and Constitution, but the very fabric of space/time itself and at the very instance he is sworn in the universe will cease to exist.

Yesterday, Shumer was on Meet the Press. Within the same breath, Shumer used the word 'extreme' twice in talking about Alito.

Shumer is trying to set up the 'extreme' litmus test the whacky-14 agreed on for other judicial nominations.

If Bush is so extreme and amassing unlimited control, shouldn't they be impeaching him rather than entertaining his Justice selections?

Hatch did an excellent job at promoting OUR constitution. What a sad and sorry state our country is in when we have PROMOTE our own constitution. The remarks made by Leahy and Kennedy show this. They both have questionable morals. Brit Hume also explained that all the anti-constitution folks(even though they speak of being open-minded) already have their evil little minds made up.

Sen. Kyl's speech was pretty good. "Don't pick sides. Stick to the Constitution. Be fair."

Then, of course, Kohl from Wisconsin starts up with his socialist tripe.

Exactly. DiFi and Co. looks forward to hearing themselves talk.

I am totally tired of hearing these Senators pontificating and lecturing about laws that have been overturned in the last 15 years by the SCOTUS. Duh! It's been a liberal court and it's their guys and guyettes doing the overruling. I find it interesting that none have addressed the Keho decision.

Viva Alito!

Okay here we go.. Sen Sessions for the fist time in the confirmation hearings has used the term SUPER DUPER.... I knew this was coming.. watch out for Sen Specter (and others) to suggest that Roe should be granted some sort of special standing in Judicial Precedent.. and attempt to the define precedent as being "SUPER" "SUPER DUPER" or "SUPER DUPER DUPER"

Is this what the judicial process has been reduced to?

If Schumer represents the best the DEMs can bring, Alito will do just fine. On the one hand, Schumer says a SCOTUS justice makes decision (opening sentences) that all Americans must abide by and that no other branch can reverse, later on he asks rhetorically whether Alito will respect the power of Congress to make decisions. LOL. Make up your mind, Chuckie.

Sierra Club is running anti-Alito radio spots in Maine - with the pitch being to call Snowe and Collins and urge them to vote against confirmation.

How is it accurate to call an event a "hearing" when the people presumably there to hear speak for the first 3 1/2 hours of the event.
