8K? Hell, that's fast! I can remember 110 baud via an acoustic coupler. You could get a full night's sleep during a download :) But don't snore, 'cause the coupler might "hear" you and garble the download.

Later I was able to upgrade to a 300 baud acoustic coupler. Talk about flying!
