Santorum is a Lindsay Graham wannabe. He is desperate and despite his backing and filling will likely be defeated in the next election.

Nah, Santorum doesn't want to emulate Lindsey.

He probably would be more than happy to go back to being a loyal Republican that votes more or less for the causes we want if re-elected.

Lindsey is riding Mccain's butt in their fantasy of controlling the world on a Third Way rail where they can ditch Democrats-Republicans-Liberals-Conservatives and only have to keep the MSM happy.

Complete difference.

However, Santorum has demonstrated strong whiffs of desperation. Instead of standing on bedrock conservative principles and telling his citizens Look- You may not always agree with me but you know where I stand. You knew where I stood when you elected me. Basically showing pride for his accomplishments and try to appeal to the fairness of the electorate to reward him for acting as their Senator in good faith for years, Santorum tries to triangulate. Triangulation died with the Clinton's. More People want folks now that are honest and stand by convictions now.

Granted he's in a more Liberal state, but that's further reason he should remain solid. The one recommendation he had to offer Democrats was that he was an honest man without pretense that responded to his constituents and worked hard. he's blowing that and crafting an image of someone so desperate to hang onto his job he'll say almost anything, unreliable. And in so doing he's alientating conservatives as well. It is a DUMB strategy and his advisors should be fired.

And I'd give advice to Rick. No job is worth compromising principles. If you do go out, you should go out with honor. Uncompromising in who you are, not flitting in the wind. Right now that very behavior of wilting under pressure is making your chances for re-election worse anyway.
