how many illegal aliens (who are not Americans) are included in that dubious statistic?
Must be counting the under-25 crowd as chirrun, as libs are wont to do when it comes to bogus gun crime stats. Let's see the state-by state rolls before this big lie gets accepted as fact. Should be easy enough to produce.
What's with the "...and life"? Implying lots of folks actually up for (so-called) Life terms...

Let's see the state-by state rolls before this big lie gets accepted as fact. There are about 32,000 inmates in NC, out of a population of about 5.5 million. That's one inmate per 172 population. This tells me that "excluding children and people +65" excludes a bit more than half the population.

I don't think there are published numbers that will tell us exactly how many people in prisons are illegal aliens, but the government does publish data on the number of people in state and federal prisons who are not U.S. citizens. Many of those will be illegal aliens, but the percentage of illegals is obviously going to be lower than the percentage of non-citizens because many who are not citizens are here legally. According to the U.S. Dept. of Justice, Bureau of Justice Statistics, noncitizens accounted for only 6.5% of all state and federal prisoners in 2004.
See Page # 5 here:

I couldn't find the BJS statistics for jail inmates for 2004. The last one I could find showing whether jail inmates were citizens was from 2002. According to the BJS, only 4.2% of jail inmates in this country were noncitizens.

The first link I gave you in my last post you all the relevant will give you statistics about our incarceration rates. I will repost that link along with a link to incarceration rates around the world. On that page you will have to click on the "World Prison Brief" link and then click "Highest to Lowest Rates." Then you can choose to look at prison populations by country or have it listed by incarceration rates per country. The list appears to have the latest available data.
International incarceration rates and numbers of people incarcerated in each country:

Incarceration rates in the U.S. and data on demographics of prisoners and so on:
