Why not interpret it as his desire to acknowledge a Black holiday and thus avoid being called racist

Interesting...acknowledging a racially separatist holiday in an effort to NOT be called racist. These are strange and pathetic times.

So, it's OK for Italians to celebrate their heritage, and it's OK for the Irish to celebrate their heritage, and it's OK for Germans to celebrate their heritage...but it's NOT OK for black people to celebrate THEIR heritage because they are black.

Did I get it right?
