Finally, somebody got it!
Move to the head of the class, friend!
BTW ... I'm gonna say this, and I don't care if I do raise some hostile eyebrows. ;)
Merry Christmas!
"If she said the same about God, because she was an atheist, or that homosexuality is a good life style, it would be okay because she believed it to be true?
Finally, somebody got it! "
No, somebody, didn't get it. She is a conservative, republican, pro-life, Christian who is not for homosexual marriage or promoting homsexuality. She could not teach those things to children either, if she was required to teach it.
Yes, but as a substitute teacher, she should have just read the poem and asked the children to talk about it and leave her input out of it unless she wanted to guide them in the structure of it, etc.
I never told anybody's children who believed in Santa Claus that it was a lie as I don't believe in perempting parents' rights. They find out soon enough.
I do hope this teacher went even further and informed the children that if they ever visit DisneyWorld (or some such) they aren't really seeing Mickey, or Donald, or even Cinderella; just regular people dressed up in costumes. And those fairy tales? Forget it, kids. Just stories made up to entertain. Fantasy is appropriate to that age group, including the concept of a kind, old man who flies in a sled pulled by reindeer. It is just mean to do what this woman did. The ugly realities of human existence will be plain enough to these children soon enough.
