FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) -- After a year of legal warfare, voters finally have an answer to who won a disputed state Senate seat: no one.
The Kentucky Supreme Court ruled Thursday that the candidate who got the most votes can't serve because she didn't live in the district long enough, and the runner-up can't serve because she didn't win.
The result is that the 37th District Senate seat, representing part of the Louisville area, is vacant, as it effectively has been since the start of the 2005 General Assembly.
The court didn't recommend a solution, and Gov. Ernie Fletcher wouldn't say Thursday if he would call a special election to fill the vacancy. If nothing is done before the General Assembly convenes Jan. 3, Senate President David Williams can set a special election date.

Dang! You have to be a resident for 6 years to run for office? That's crazy. Maybe a denial of constitutional rights, too.
These days, people move every 6 months. Might be one or two people in the district who meet that qualification. And if there were none? Then the district goes unrepresented.
to bad my awful state of NY didn't have such a provision to prevent the likes of Shrillery from becoming Senator.
if such a law exsisted in NY she would have found a way around it,or carpetbagged her oversized butt to some other state
