RESUME LIES

BE honest; have you ever lied on your resume? Come on - maybe just a little "harmless" white lie? Sure, you say. "I've stretched dates of employment a little to cover gaps in my work history - and I don't think it really matters that I put down that I earned a degree when I actually fell just a few measly credits short." Do you want the truth ... can you handle the truth? That "job-winning resume" you're circulating to hundreds of employers could be a ticking time bomb poised to maim your career. Numerous studies reveal that resume falsification is a common thing. Statistics from employers, anonymous polls conducted by job Web sites like monster.com, and surveys published by various background-checking firms suggest as many as 50 percent of all resume s contain some degree of distortion - from white lies to outright whoppers.

"I stumbled and then am shown the door. I get a little upset later because I wonder why they are asking questions that is not cover on the resume. "

I also find in this situation that it helps to NOT point at their faces and call the interviewers "pal" or "bub".

Not only no but HECK NO!

First it is dishonest and second it will come back to bite you. There is a standard clause on employment applications that says something to the effect that you swear that what you say is true under penalty of being fired.

And they mean it.

Thank you, moonman. That will be $.07 ($.03 for the noun and $.04 for the verb), and that's with the FREEPER discount.

I'm still fighting with the U.S. Patent Office over whether I can charge royalties on the presumed words in acronyms like LOL, so it is possible that you will receive an additional invoice later.

Merry Christmas to the moonman and everyone he holds dear.

OK, why am I getting sendmail panics when I've disenabled it in rc.conf and rebooted? How do I get rid of the messages that include "cannont save rejected mail anywhere."

I invented 'Conservatism'.

Piffle. I invented the resume.

I hold US Patent #1. For resume paper.

I've never lied on my resume, but I've had plenty of people pump sunshine up my butt about what the job was really like.

Is your solution to disable SMTP, or fix the underlying problem?

BE honest; have you ever lied on your resume?

Yes. And 7 years later I'm still paying the price.

I want to fix the problem, but I don't think the /var is full. I reinstalled 6.0 and gave /var more room, and it still happens. However, on the reinstall, I didn't unenable sendmail.

If you need SMTP functionality, try postfix. That may work better for you.

If you just want to make the error logs go away, nuke sendmail if you need to.

"pkginfo | grep -i mail"
"pkgrm sendmail"

Something like that, depending on the OS flavor.

You are correct and they should ask. However, if the certain knowledge they desire is not on my resume, why am I even there? My own theory on that is for the most part, those who are advertising for the job do not even see the resume until the day of the interview. I tend to blame the HR people.
