The orginal "TERMINATOR"!!
I don't know why FReepers keep begging for Bloomberg to pull a Reagan. There's nothing Bloomberg can do. He doesn't have any authority over the transit workers - their oversight is from a regional government board created by the state.
Bloomberg is likely in daily [hourly?] contact with the Governors office over this. There's alot he can push for.
Bloomberg doesnt have the nuts to do something like that. Like KLIN-TON, he'd have to do @ 20 focus groups THEN do @ 30 polls to see which way the political winds blew. Politicians these days are PATHETIC!
This was not just a domestic affair. Leaders all over the world took note. They got the clear message that they couldn't push this President around like they did Jimmah the intrepid bunny-fighter.
Gee, when some pilot's union or other threatened to strike, Bubba invoked a old railway law to make them go back to work. Why can't that same railway law be used to, oh I dunno, make the subway run again?
As one who worked thru the PATCO strike in Chicago, I don't believe the transit workers took an oath not to strike, as we did.

Sorry, I'm not getting your point.
Where's Ronnie when you need him? How I miss him; God rest his soul.
I worked with a guy was an ATC in Alaska when Ronnie fired him. He bitched about Ronnie and I just laughed back and told him he got what he deserved ;)
