An earlier visit to the school prompted Polish soldiers assigned to Multinational Division Central-South to organize a visit to bring school supplies, clothing and shoes for the children.

AD DIWANIYAH, Iraq, Dec. 21, 2005 — The Multinational Division Central-South Humanitarian Assistance Coordination Center donated supplies for kindergarten students in Afak, Iraq, 30 kilometers east of Ad Diwaniyah, Dec. 19.

Some of the supplies included mattresses, tables and chairs.

Toys were also donated, including bicycles, children's tents, toy cars, puzzles, wooden blocks, sport toys and stuffed animals

In addition, clothing and more than 100 pairs of shoes were donated for the children.

Polish soldiers assigned to Multinational Division Central-South said that during their first visit there, they saw that children in the kindergarten didn't have any toys, mattresses or school supplies. That visit prompted the recent mission to bring the donated supplies to the children, said Polish soldiers who organized the visit.

These events are often organized by the Humanitarian Assistance Coordination Centre, which is part of Multinational Division Central-South. Since August of this year, Multinational Division Central-South soldiers have donated two tons of clothing, school supplies, 440 shoes, 700 kilograms of hygienic supplies, 70 layettes and more than 50 wheelchairs.

In September, Multinational Division Central-South donated medicine worth half a million U.S. dollars for hospitals in Ad Diwaniyah. The medicine was provided by the humanitarian organization "Freedom and Peace Trust."

Multinational Division Central-South humanitarian assistance is usually provided for Iraqi schools, hospitals, homes for the elderly, kindergartens and orphanages.

Good to see them doing this. Nothing is more uplifting than helping someone in need, especially when you are surrounded with bad guys, doing good just makes it seem all worthwhile.
