Just seems like they wouldn't get much for them if they aren't purebred or documented...

The documents are forged and the article claims most of the dogs sell for $300 to $1,000.

I'd think the same volume of drugs as they have puppies would gain them a lot more.

There is more money in drugs, but the penalities are a lot stiffer if you're caught. When it comes to smuggling puppies, the article stated: "In egregious cases, smugglers are cited and fined." That's just a slap on the wrist.

Well, people are nuts... this dovetails nicely I guess with the ping from last night about the decision to not sell pets on ebay.
