A porn star, a mob daughter, music moguls, actors and thousands of Howard Stern loyalists are expected to gather today to give the self-proclaimed "King of All Media" an all-out radio send off. This morning, Stern says farewell to WXRK Radio (92.3 FM), his home for 20 years. It's his last show on broadcast radio before starting at Sirius Satellite Radio on Jan. 9.
"I know terrestrial radio is dead," Stern told the Daily News recently. "If satellite radio takes off, and that's an if, and I think it will, there will be 30 million people subscribing by 2010. And then those guys are f------!"
In true Stern fashion, he's going out of "terrestrial radio" in a big way.
Fans are expected to gather on 56th St. between Fifth and Sixth Aves. to listen to Stern's morning show, see a band perform and mingle with his entourage.
At points during the 6 a.m.-10 a.m. broadcast, Stern and his sidekicks - Robin Quivers, Fred Norris and Gary Dell'Abate - will address the crowd outside K-Rock's studios.
Stern's posse of VIPs is set to include Victoria Gotti, porn star Tera Patrick, actor Chris Rock, Yankee catcher Jorge Posada, actress Denise Rich and the Gastineau women - Brittny and Lisa.

LOL, that's a list of VIP's?! I know who the Gotti crime family is, but no idea who Victoria Gotti is...presumably married to some mob guy. Don't watch porn, so no clue who Tera Patrick is. I do know who Chris Rock is. I know the name Posada but my impression is that from the list of big name players on the Yankees I doubt that he's a huge VIP. I'm guessing Denise Rich is/was married to Mark Rich, the criminal. But have never before even heard of her referred to as an actress rather less be able to list anything she has actually acted in. I've heard of the Gastineau girls as a TV show but wouldn't be able to pick them out of a police line up. Clearly, I'm not the core audience of Howard Stern, but one would think his final day's all star list might actually include...oh...maybe some stars. Seems very lame to me.
