Republicans Decry Language On Guest Worker Program Added To Bill
The Mercury News ^ | December 14, 2005 | Dena Bunis

The last-minute addition of language that expresses congressional support for a guest worker program into the immigration bill headed for the House floor Thursday has a group of Republican members up in arms.

For months, House GOP leaders have said they plan to go to the floor with an immigration bill that deals with border security and doesn't include the kind of temporary guest worker program that many Senate Republicans and the White House have been calling for.

But early Wednesday, House staffers learned that a one-paragraph section discussing the need for foreign workers to help the U.S. economy was being added to the bill. It was being included as part of a wide-ranging amendment by the bill's author, Judiciary Committee Chairman James Sensenbrenner, R-Wis.

What's going on with House leadership appears to be nothing more than a charade to get amnesty through. If this language isn't removed those who support true enforcement ought to just vote to kill the bill.

Just another amnesty, and the taxpayers and REAL citizens of America get SCREWED AGAIN BY THE WASHINGTON ELITISTS.

Speaking to my congressman last night on this issue...

The problem, about 30 *republicans*, otherwise known as RINOS from the northeast and midwest have jumped ship on this issue.

They don't have border problems, but they do have integrity problems.

The bill is being held hostage *not* by the Democrats, but by registered republicans.

How about lobby to reverse the text. Change it to state until the illegal aliens are out and the southern border is closed there will NEVER be a "guest worker" system. And have it include the H1-B sham as well.

I think a guestworker program is a great idea - but this
may not have been exactly the place to put that little plug.

Remember, we had a working guest worker program - until it was killed by LBJ and the Dems at the behest of the unions and Cesar Chavez.

You bet, if another amnesty goes through we will lose our sovereignty.

What's up with the Northeastern Republicans, are they demanding a guest worker/amnesty program now? My take is Sensenbrenner agreed to this killer language at the last moment though he repeatedly stated he wanted to wait until after the enforcement bill to work on one.

We have ALREADY lost it, with the Bush dynasty not only deliberately keeping our borders wide open, but the pushing of CAFTA combined with NAFTA, etc. The ONE AMERICA crowd is really setting us up for a battle for our soverignty. The voters had really better wake up for 2006 and 2008. Our republic is in MAJOR danger.

THE WASHINGTON TIMES ^ | December 15, 2005 | Stephen Dinan
The House Judiciary Committee chairman yesterday backed off his provision to make illegal aliens felons and instead proposed a misdemeanor charge for unlawful presence, angering some Republicans who wanted the higher penalty. The House is expected to vote today on a border enforcement and employee work verification bill, which calls for more U.S. Border Patrol agents, mandatory database checks of employees' eligibility to work, expanding expedited removal of illegal aliens and allowing sheriffs along the border to help enforce immigration law. Some Republicans already were threatening to try to block the bill if they didn't get a chance to vote...

Start building the fence.

It should be made a felony for Criminals who overstay their visas and Invaders.

I believe we should give amnesty to these poor CRIMINALS or INVADERS.
This should be a 2 week amnesty to get the heck out of our Country.
The ones who ignore this amnesty should be buried in a tent city jail and fined $10,000 or buried elsewhere.
All aiders and abettors of these CRIMINALS or INVADERS should get 1 year in a tent city jail and a $10,000 fine for each CRIMINAL aided.
Those in government should be the first ones charged.

True.
And, after closing the borders, ousting the illegals, and resolving our own welfare/workforce issues to a point where we can actually determine the need; I'm all for a future Bracero program that does NOT provide for a permanent stay, does NOT recognize anchor babies, does NOT provide for any form of amnesty for law breakers, and taxes any funds transferred out of the USA.

Looks like those pics with Sensenbrenner and a goat finally surfaced...and once again Conservatives have to BOHICA to the Moderate/Lib (R)'s, and the rest of Congress gave their testicles in a lock-box!

Vote them ALL out! Revolt, and reclaim America before they give it all away!

No more RINOS...they are WORSE than DemaonRATs...at least we KNOW the DemonRATs oppose us...the RINOS take the campaign contributions, mouth comforting platitudes, and THEN stab us in the back! All the while becoming extremely wealthy off the backs of the voters!

No more...B.I.T.S. @ T-Minus <1 Month...and counting!

Make your vote count. Quit blindly giving it to Pubs who plan to shaft you and vote third party! Your candidate won't win but instead of sending the message, "Please shaft me", you will be sending the message, "I'll shaft you".
