Good post, and may I add a couple thoughts?
Since there will be no surrender in the classic sense, Dems see a chance to paint the end of this operation as a defeat, no matter the outcome. They will keep trumpeting the number of dead, and talk of body bags and the maimed, while ignoring the facts on the ground, which extend well beyond Iraq.
Bush is creating an earthquake that is shaking the entire Middle East and the Islamic World to its' foundations. That is a long view action, and Dems are not interested.
The complete size and nature of this victory will not be evident for some time, and Dems are short-sighted, as in focused on November, 2006.
November, 2006, their next huge electoral defeat.
You got it.
It's the exact same strategy they pursued with Reagan. They thought they had successfully minimalized him as well. They thought their revisionism had succeeded. They were shocked to the core when masses turned out to honor President Reagan. They were shocked when billions honors the Pope's passing, a man they also had tried to destroy. No matter what they do President Bush WILL be honored in time and there is nothing they can do to stop it. He will be credited for the transformation of the Middle east into the 21st Century. He will be credited for saving this nation and the world from Islamofascism. He will be credited for inspiring Freedom movements in other hemispheres. They, in turn, will be reviled in history for their cowardice and opportunism. If they were capable of seeing beyond the end of their nose I'm not certain they could live with themselves. I couldn't live with the knowledge my actions had sought to imprison millions in bondage to butchers.
