You know how many times the New York Times have run front page stories in early December declaring that year the 'warmest on record' only to be disappointed by a cold December? I am betting $1000 the New York Times does not run a front page story on this.

The cold weather is caused by global warming. The planet is trying to compensate for all the damage we have done. Ha. I should issue a fax to the MSM outlets on some letterhead from a college on that one. They would all surely bite.

It was 6 degrees when I left to take our son to school this morning. It had warmed up, 15 minutes later, to a blazing 9 degrees.

It's a cold as a well digger's butt, out there! My poor rhododendrons have completely closed their leaves against the cold.

Yeah, but you see, according to the government climatologists in the movie "The Day After Tomorrow," global warming causes 10-degrees-per-second temperature plummets and initiates a new ice age in the entire northern hemisphere. Global warming = record-breaking cold. Makes perfect sense, doesn't it?

The whole NE is running about 10 degrees below the average for December (so far!)- that's pretty substantial.

A weather expert says December 2005 is on pace to become one of the 10 coldest in more than 100 years

This person has obviously not been to Texas this month. Yeah, it got into the single digits one day here in the Dallas area, but just a few days before that we were pushing 90.

This thread is not covering itself in glory. There's a difference between weather and climate, and between one cold month and several years of record warmth.

I don't understand why people are in denial about this--the Earth is getting warmer. No one disagrees about that, no matter how cold it happens to be on a given day. The question here is whether there's anything humans can or should do about it, and Kyoto is obviously the wrong answer.

Global warming has NOTHING to do with the hurricane cycle in the Atlantic and there may well be nothing we can do to change it. Yet the science is completely clear on the fact that it's happening and we will feel its effects.

Everyone should be absolutely clear: the debate is about what we do in response, and whether we buy into every half-baked environmentalist plot to try to "do something!" It's not whether it's happening.

Gee - haven't you all read the memo!!

Global Warming can also make it really, really cold too. Global Warming can also cause mini-ice ages!!
