Defeatists in our midst

EN ROUTE TO IRAQ.

As I make my way to Iraq, once again, to cover the progress U.S. troops have made in rebuilding that country, I have mixed emotions. Of course, I'm pleased and honored to spend time with some of the finest young Americans our country has produced. Relating the stories of brave soldiers and Marines as they protect innocent Iraqis who will go to the polls for their third election in a year is a job a I look forward to doing.

These young men and women have worked tirelessly to remove a brutal dictator from power -- a dictator who systematically tortured, repressed and killed his own people. They have been fighting terrorists who have infiltrated the country to try to take over where Saddam left off.

These young Americans, who have left their friends and families, have not only provided security to the Iraqi people, they have been training Iraqi security forces and rebuilding schools, hospitals and communities. They deserve our prayers, support and respect.

And that's where the mixed emotions come into play. When I arrive, I can confidently tell our young people in uniform most of the country supports them and is praying for them. But there is a vocal and influential group of people who don't. They are led by Howard Dean, chairman of the Democratic Party.

Speaking on WOIA Radio in San Antonio, Texas, last week, Mr. Dean predicted America would lose the war in Iraq. Just a week before Iraqis hold historic elections to select representatives in the nation's legislature, Mr. Dean assured us defeat is the only scenario on the horizon for Americans. Just three weeks before Christmas, as the troops and their families spend the holiday apart, Mr. Dean told our young men ..

Can anyone get a message to Ollie North?

I've watch Lindsey Graham today on Meet the Press and this is a scenario that is played out almost daily.

When asked about whether there was a connection between Iraq and Al Qaeda before the war, Lindsey says "no".

Do we need to have a seminar to get our guys up to speed on this stuff?

When asked, how could we be so wrong about WMD in Iraq, has one single Republican ever answered that the Duelfer Report among other reports has credible evidence that Iraq's WMD were transferred to Syria before the invasion.

Is this too difficult for Republicans to comprehend? If Ollie North could make a pitch to someone within the administration to have Republicans brush up on some of this stuff, the support for the war would increase because people would see how valid the administration's concerns were about Iraq.

I think Dean needs a sky-diving lesson over a Marine camp in Iraq...that should fix this treason problem we have.

Thank you Ollie! You are a Marine's Marine. Semper Fi.

Sorry Gunny Ermy, I don't wish to slight you. You done good! Keep up the fine work.

My favorite Marine was my Uncle George, E-1 to O-6 USMC. He enlisted after Dec 7th and was rapidly moved up to E-5 because he had some college. Battlefield Commission on Guadalcanal. Landed on Siapan. Walked out of the Chosin Resevour in Korea. 2 silver stars, 3 Bronze Stars(w/ V), Legion of Merit, and FIVE purple hearts.

I would NEVER slight any Marine, but you have to admit THAT'S a MARINE.

Peach I doubt it will matter 2 years of not finding wmd there to liberals is a FACT it will not be changed. Kind hurts when Bush said , I belive somewhere around 8-10 months of being there, that there might not have been any wmd there. Or something to effect. I cant remember Bush's exact words but I remember wonder why he would say such a thing it would emboden the liberals.

I had a discussion with some liberal about Iran supposedly being months away from a nuke. He said we should bomb the crap out of them. I said, wait this is the same kind of evidence we had against saddam, cant really confirm it, you dont like us being in iraq but iran would be fine...what a putz....

I agree with your post. If what I posted about WMD is true, then why has the administration not used that information? It's a complete mystery and I'd love an answer. More than you know.

BTW, thank you for your service.

I couldn't agree with you more!! I am beyond tired of waiting for our representatives to stand up and be heard stating the FACTS! ~ If they don't know them, they'd damned better learn them!!

Too much is at stake for them to sit back and wait for all of this to "blow over". If they don't take the cRATs and the MSM on about their lies, deceits and distortions, this country will be lost.

If someone can get a message to Ollie, please send him the link to this page:

It offers a great perspective about our media coverage written by Zell Miller!

Come to think of it I need to get this link to Senator Murtha ~ maybe, just maybe, he'll get a clue.

I am guessing Bush is just trying to stir up the idiots get them all mad as hell that way we can see who they are. That's the only plan I can see, draw them out into the daylight. Now the next question is what to do with them

When asked about whether there was a connection between Iraq and Al Qaeda before the war, Lindsey says "no".

How this has become common knowledge is beyond me, when there is one simple fact that directly contradicts it, and that I (of all people), know from direct observation, is beyond me.

Out in the desert south of Baghdad was a training facility, with a runway, buildings, etc., which had ground-bound, junked 737's, apparently in which wannabe suicide pilots could hone their 'stick and rudder' skills, not to mention getting familiar with the interior layout of the planes, etc.

It always seemed to me that one series of photographs of this set-up should have been enough to straighten out the record. Then of course, you also have the clear intelligence record of meetings with Iraqi intelligence with al-qaeda in Europe and the Far East.

When I read stories like this, I have to wonder if this Lindsey was recruited from Republican ranks, or is just another standard, basically Democrat DC Clymer of the type that idiotic Republicans always seem to hire for staff work.
