PHOENIX, Dec. 7 (UPI) -- Five Sheriff's Department employees in Arizona are under investigation for awarding themselves contracts paid with a federal anti-drug grant.
The Arizona Daily Star reports that the five have been suspended without pay and locked out of their office.
They all worked in Pima County and had responsibilities that included administering $10 million in anti-drug funds. The five allegedly boosted their salaries by $200,000 by granting themselves contracts to perform the same job in Santa Cruz County.
The raises were first questioned by federal administrators in Washington.
Pima County served as the pass-through county for High Intensity Drug Traffic Area funds for Southern Arizona.
Someone's really hot over this.
How about naming some names?
