This is a NJ area program, but the talk will focus on the PA case.
Anyone who wants to watch tonight's program live tonight at 9pm (Phila. area time) can probably watch it here:

Most homeschoolers can avoid interference by enrolling their children through small private "umbrella" schools and the kids are then listed as privately schooled as parents continue to homeschool. No one really cares what the opinion is of the school district.
Umbrella schools aren't copacetic in Pennsylvania Act 169.
Update on CN8 show for anyone who couldn't watch the show: It turned out alright.
Scott Somerville (spelling?) of HSLDA and a mom (who has been homeschooling for 17 years) presented the homeschool side of the debate.
On the other side sat the head of the NJEA (NJ's teacher's union) and a psychologist. What really made me cringe was the psychologist's reference to how, quote-unquote, "We don't have oversight." Hmmm... "We"?
And the NJEA head saying our children aren't exposed to enough "diversity". LOL. That line always makes me laugh.
But the homeschooling side did a wonderful job defending us. Some homeschoolers called and emailed, too. Luckily, both sides agreed that incidents like Andrea Yates and Ludwig/Borden were isolated cases that do not reflect all homeschoolers, though I guess there wasn't much they could say, considering the crimes that have occurred among public schoolers.
I've been thinking that, in case our state does adopt regulation, we might consider enrolling them into a cyberschool/correspondence school at-home.
Good that they had such qualified homeschoolers. The "We don't have oversight" is very revealing. They have no business having *oversight*. They seem to forget, or maybe choose to, that anyone who sends their kids to public school is hiring them to provide a service for their kids.
And in CA, they want to extend that "oversight" to free preschool for all. Creepy.
We all know they really don't give a darn about your child and only truly seek the tax $$$$ the district loses when Johnny or Jenny -aint in dare skroul.
Yup,
My kids are unable to socialize properly. That's OK with me, I'm not raising them to be socialists.
Nah--I live in MO. Just saw some Homeschool news and thought of you. :)
