Heh, the ARMY is a blast so far. It's the tricks the enemy are employing that I'm taking seriously.

Just doing my duty.

Hooah!

Just make sure they don't qualify you on a bus.... You don't want to be ferrying people to the chow hall everyday!

However you can delay as long as possible it by letting all know that you really want the license ;)

Hey, mine includes -

BMP, BTR60PB, T62,T64,T55, BRDM, GAZ, PT76, BMD, M113, M1, and the M60, I think. Not sure about the M60.

Odd things happen in the army.

Oh, and the Leo-II. Musn't forget that, and the M557.

I'm not supposed to talk about it in open forums. Though I'm sure it could be found elsewhere with some work, I'm not the type to just give information like "this MOS is mainly operating here"

Especially given I'm Transportation Corps. Haji would love to find a few bases for our logistics.

Just taking that part seriously. Sorry if I offend. New kind of war we have. Part of the classes.

Funny but pretty accurate.

I held the dubious additional duty title of Battalion "Master Driver" for a couple of years an Engineer unit in the 1st Cav. Though I was to "control" the issuance of licenses (for everything from chainsaws to 5k generators to M60 tank chassis CEV's), I didn't have the authority to stop any 1st Sergeant from having a company rep print their own licenses for anything he deemed necessary.

Some training was usually conducted before certification on a vehicle but most real training came from actually driving it.

Personally, I had two licenses as I couldn't fit all the different vehicles/machines on only one! I even had a mine detector listed.

"You have to drive the 5 ton to BIAP on the convoy."

I don't know if either of you have ever seen the original film of a M923 5 ton skidding, but my shop was the one that filmed the original episode. Seeing that 923 sliding sideways on water was not a good sight. That was filmed in 1992 in Austin Tx. How man soldiers died in 923 accidents before the brake system had the MWO applied??
