As a citizen of Georgia and a Republican I have not been all that impressed by Governor Perdue. But this year he has really made some great calls and this incident makes me a new fan.

...religious conservatives, including the Rev. Jerry Falwell...

I guess you can't say religious conservatives without the obligatory mention of that bigoted, intolerant, and most likely racist and homophobic, Jerry Falwell. It's the MSM equivalent of saying "...Nazis, including the Fuhrer, Adolf Hitler..." This is actually the first time I've seen the name of Falwell mentioned in conjunction with any Holiday Tree discussion.

This year, religious conservatives, including the Rev. Jerry Falwell, have objected to the use of the term "holiday tree," saying it seeks to minimize the Christian origins of Christmas.

Nothing but pure, bigoted hatred prompted the author to toss this subject into the article.

Look how the AP blames the Religious right...grrrrrrrrr.

Is it not the religious right who is objecting to the term "Holiday Tree"?

I don't see it as blame. I see it as credit

Political correctness has indeed become almost totally pervasive.

You got that right. It's enough to make you want to write to your Congressperson!

A press release sent by Perdue's office to members of the media Friday afternoon announced plans for a "holiday tree" lighting ceremony at the governor's mansion. Exactly 30 minutes later, a second release blamed the wording on "a politically correct staff brain-freeze." "It is, in fact, a Christmas tree," said the second release. "The staffer responsible can be contacted at P.O. Box 432, Anchorage, Alaska, 99501."

The staffer responsible for the first press release has been sacked. Furthermore, the staffer responsible for giving that address has also been sacked. ;~D

LOL - someone at the Georgia Governor's office is Funny!

The staffer responsible can be contacted at P.O. Box 432, Anchorage, Alaska, 99501 Since I live in Alaska this really caught my attention. The 99501 zip code is downtown Anchorage - urban for us, a collection of six highrises, four hotels and a bunch of bars for everyone else. Nevertheless, I just spent 30 minutes trying to google this address and I can't find it. My little s*** detector went into overdrive with this little detail. It might be a real place. Why Alaska? Considering the prevailing attitude up here, the original press release must have been written by one of the remaining 14 liberals left over from pipeline days. Strange.

Thats a cool wreath!

I had a nice one hanging over my garage door that I decorated all by myself and thought it looked really great.

I hopped in my car Tuesday morning, hit the garage door opener and backed out into the driveway only to run over the thing because it had fallen off its hook. Totally destroyed..........

Perdue eliminating the Georgia gas tax right after Katrina was smart. But he's no Zell Miller. Sigh.

I respect you, I respect your opinion (your right to have one too..), BUT YOU ARE DEAD WRONG THIS ISSUE!

Firstly to compare Jerry Falwell to Nazis is like comparing Cotton Candy to Asbestos!! There is not comparison, and one does the totally opposite of the other; secondly since when is a supposed "conservative" concerned about 'homophobe' (not that TRUE hate for gays is ok, but Christianiyt speaking out aginst it is BOGUS P.C. ~liberal~ rehtoric). Jerry Falwell (on record) is not anti-person-homosexual; he is and I paraphrase "agiainst the (PERVERSION) sin that homosexuality, but loves each person through Christ".

I go to Liberty University, therefore I know more about Jerry Falwell, and where he stands on the issuse than you probably ever will (unless you take the time to actualy investigate and ready WHAT HE ACTUALLY WRITES..will you?..OH AND I AM PROUD OF IT!!

..And YOU SOUND AN AWEFUL LOT LIKE A TROLL (Thanks, but try again ;0)-> ~never~ 'holliday tree?'. Now please have a merry christmas; (and don't come around here again if you wanna go 'trolling'-PLEASE?
