Russia equips Iran for war

Moscow sells Tehran 29 anti-missile systems, cites secret Al Gore agreement as justification

WASHINGTON – Russia has signed a deal with Iran to sell 29 of its Tor M-1 anti-missile systems, a development that will complicate any planned pre-emptive attack on the rogue nation's nuclear facilities, reports Joseph Farah's G2 Bulletin.

The system would theoretically permit Iran to intercept some cruise missiles as well as airborne missiles that U.S., Israeli or other western countries might use in an effort to keep the terrorist-supporting nation from developing nuclear weapons or using them.

The sale was confirmed by a source at the Koupol military factory in Russia who claimed the deal would not violate any international agreement. That's because Moscow made a secret 1995 agreement with Washington known as the Gore-Chernomyrdin protocol, which Russian officials believes permits continued military sales to Iran.

If Joseph Farah's Intelligence report is true, the Putin Regime is simply out of whack. Iranian president already openly proclaimed it's plans to train Chechen guerillas fighting against Russian Troops in Chechnya and throughout Russia's North Caucasus. I think the insatiable greed combined with not so subtle AntiAmericanism now driving wacky Putin policies. Although to be objective, Clinton/Gore dealings with Yeltsin corrupt government also contributed to this situation.

I think it is more that a lot of the old line Soviet leaders are slow to trust America and have the Soviet ethnic view that Muslims are less capable peoples.

Still Russian gear didn't helped Iraq, and probably won't help Syria. Most the stuff the Russians deal to foreigners is at least 10 years behind ours.

The Russians have become the new French - selling weapons to all comers, even their own enemies.

I remember when Russia equipped a lot of countries for war, including Iraq. Most of them are on what the sainted Reynaldus Magnus referred to as the "ash heap of history." Iran, nukes and all, is just another candidate for the pile.

They are selling them new weapons systems as we speak, and they will be used against us or the Israelis at some point in the future should Iran not abandon it's nuclear ambitions. The Iranians abandoning nuclear ambitions will happen when Hell freezes over by the way.

Putin certainly is an expert at using Chechnya to his advantage. Besides, it is all about the $$$ for the Russian Government anyway.

It's not out of whack any more than the US is out of whack to sell military equipment to Indonesia. Or trade in the trillions with China.

Forget Chechnya and the separatist movement in the predominantly muslim caucuses (sp). Iran is an historical trading partner with Russia just like China is an historical trading partner with the USA.

I remember that during Yeltsin era, there was Gore-Chernomyrdin comission, a kind of buddies forum. Definitely, Clinton could not be not involved somehow in this too.

Yes, in 1994 Clintons and company adopted N.Korea from the Russians cause they could no longer afford their upkeep. Then as Yeltsin popularity continued to deteriorate lots of deals were apparently made paving a direct link from WDC to Moscow.
