I hope it is less than the ludicrous 26 years that Tookie has flourished behind bars here in Cali.

Found this, part of a Jan. 2000 article from Orland newspaper:

Most legislators agree Florida should abandon its 75-year reliance on the electric chair as the state's sole means of capital punishment. But the 3-day session may become bogged down by Gov. Jeb Bush's demand that lawmakers also shorten the appeals process for condemned inmates, who now spend an average 14 years on death row.
