Like the article said, this isn't about the military, this is about gang colors. Even though the connection to gangs seems to be tenuous at best, I believe it is the schools right and responsibility to have rules and enforce them. Kids do not have the right to wear whatever they want to school. If it is disruptive (like the penis costume last month), it shouldn't be allowed.
This wasn't a penis costume and it appears the only disruption came from these school officials who decided that something "had to be banned" and made a big deal out of it.
Like the other kid quoted said: gang colors are red and blue. You going to ban red and blue clothing?
A couple of thoughts:
1) Even by Massachusetts standards, the city of Lowell is a mess. (So the school should send her home).
2) Her mother stated that "Everything she wears matches". Isn't the object of camoflage that NOTHING matches?
What if she was going deer hunting after school?
Her outfit isn't disruptive, other than perhaps to send an anti-American liberal teacher into a hissy fit. If it's truly about gang "colors," why hasn't the school outlawed red or blue clothing? And I don't think anyone has the right to censor someone's free speech just because a gang is saying the same thing.

Yes, it is.
