Smart, or Stupid?
Towhhall.com ^ | November 30th, 2005 | Lawrence Kudlow

Will someone please explain why the Bush White House and the Republican Congress are not trumpeting this economic boom on a daily basis? Their polls are sagging, but the economy is soaring. This simply shouldn’t be.

"Real GDP has grown at 3 percent or better for ten straight quarters, averaging 4.1 percent at an annual rate for the best performance since the middle 1980s." All this with low taxes, inflation, while winning a war. Ain't that a deal?

Sure, I can tell you. It is called 'snatching defeat from the jaws of victory'. It is being dealt by the spinless conservatives leading our county. When the dust settles, let's hope we don't see these 'fearless leaders' sitting around scratching their asses asking "What the hell happened?"

IMO we've got the majority house, senate, POTUS and his Veep yet we still don't have the control that we should. All it would take is a little courage, something that seems to be lacking among the Republican leaders.

I hate congress......all they do is spend our money, and then they fail to trumpet when economic conservativism works. I wish we could just primary the lot of 'em.

I agree! I have a "conservative" Republican Congressman from a very conservative district. He typically wins the general election by 85-15 over a Libertarian. No Dim opponent. How EASY it should be to have a backbone!

I had a small group meeting with him a couple of years ago where he said that the "Farm Bill" was a terrible bill, but he voted for it anyway because it was going to pass. I lost ALL respect for him. I'll vote for ANYONE else. Probably the dope-pushing Lib....

It is almost like the Repubs have NO PR people on any of their staffs. The Dims are out there everyday criticizing Bush and Repubs as the "party of corruption" and even have their own Radio Network trumpeting the Dims policies 24/7 - ErrHead America. We have conservative talk radio but they are not extensions of the Republican Party like ErrHead America is. Conservative talk radio is sponsored by commercial entities, whereas ErrHead America gets its funding not from sponsors, but by stealing from Boys and Girls Clubs, and from George Soros (indirectly the Rat party since he owns it).

The GOP is not about bragging like the Dimowits are.
But good news needs to be bragged upon to shut up the lying bumbling left.
Opportunity knocks.

They can trumpet it all they want. If the MSM does not report it, for most of America it never happened.

Liberal here. I too find it amazing that with the relatively positive news on the economic front and falling gas prices that Congress and the administration can't or refuse to articulate and advance a coherent positive message to the masses.

It's really costing you guys. I know most around here don't really care much for President Clinton, but you have to admit he'd get every last drop of political gain from this situation.

Maybe Rove isn't quite the political genius after all.

Unfortunately, the Republicans never got organized for PR the way the Dems have been ever since Clintonian "talking points" became their governing principle.

I've marveled at how brazen Dems can be when they want to drive a point in the media: they detail two or more politicos to give daily- DAILY!- "news conferences" and I'm pretty sure they're all sending out very similar press releases, as well. They probably try to cover newspapers, radio and TV with the same "message". They are, in short, media hogs, and they succeed so well at getting their "message" or attitude- out there- by virtue of the fact that they are often providing the only "show" in town, as it were.

The press I think are really, really lazy. And so they "report" on what the Dems have to say, without really analyzing it or seeking out opposing views. And the Dems count on that.
The Dems hold out their story on a silver platter, and the "reporters" eat up. Simple. Devastating if the Republicans don't wise up and start coordinating in the same way. Larry Kudlow is correct in his evaluation but unspecific in naming the cure.

Perhaps that's the difference between style and substance.

Please. Who cares what the economy is doing when my home (southern California) looks and sounds like Tiajuana. Bush has done nothing to seal off the borders, so his numbers can tank for all I care. And I voted for him. Plus, not to mention how he has treated Israel, handing her over to nutcases. Shameful.

They're not called the stupid party for nothing......

You got that right! Stupid appeasing cowardly fools! From the president on down!

Here's 2 other glaring examples!

BILL GATES TEAMS UP WITH UNESCO! By Phyllis Schlafly, http://www.theconservativevoice.com/articles/article.html?id=10360 "President Reagan withdrew the United States from UNESCO on December 31, 1984 because it was corrupt, anti-Western, and a vehicle for far-left propaganda. Unfortunately, President George W. Bush rejoined UNESCO in 2003."

WE LIKE YOU! WE REALLY, REALLY LIKE YOU! By Anne Coulter http://www.theconservativevoice.com/articles/article.html?id=10381 When Democratic Rep. John Murtha called for the withdrawal of American troops in the middle of the war, Republicans immediately leapt to action by calling Murtha a war hero, a patriot and a great American. I haven't heard Republicans issue this many encomiums to one man since Ronald Reagan died. By now, Murtha has been transformed into the greatest warrior since Alexander the Great and is probably dating Jennifer Aniston. In response to Murtha's demand for the "immediate withdrawal of American troops" -- as The New York Times put it -- President Bush called Murtha a "fine man, a good man" who served with "honor and distinction," who "is a strong supporter of the United States military." He said he knew Murtha's "decision to call for an immediate withdrawal of our troops ... was done in a careful and thoughtful way."

"On the House floor, both Republicans and Democrats repeatedly gave Murtha rousing standing ovations. There was so much praise for Murtha that one of his Democratic colleagues asked him if he still had to attend Murtha's funeral. What is this? Special Olympics for the Democrats? Can't Republicans disagree with a Democrat who demands that the U.S. surrender in the middle of a war without erecting monuments to him first? What would happen if a Democrat were to propose restoring Saddam Hussein to power? Is that Medal of Freedom territory?"
