Hayworth critical of Mexico's immigrant 'guide'

Scottsdale Republican Congressman J.D. Hayworth is criticizing the Mexican government over a controversial pamphlet for migrants and undocumented immigrants looking to enter the United States. The Mexican government has put out a new booklet titled "Guide to the Mexican Immigrant."
"The booklet is essentially a 'how to' guide for illegal entry into the U.S. that provides recommendations for illegal aliens in evading detection of federal authorities once in the U.S. Not once does the guide mention how a Mexican migrant can come the U.S. legally," Hayworth said in the letter.
This is not the first time Hayworth has criticized the Mexican government for not doing more to address illegal immigration into the United States. That includes threats to reduce U.S. foreign aid to Mexico and use some of that money to address immigration costs.

Beauprez Cop Killer Amendment Passes the U.S. House

Washington, DC - The U.S. House tonight overwhelmingly passed an amendment to the Foreign Operations Appropriations Bill offered by Reps. Bob Beauprez (R-Colo.) and Patrick McHenry (R-N.C.) that will cut foreign aid to countries who refuse to extradite cop killers back to the U.S. for trial. Below is the transcript of Rep. Beauprez's floor statement prior to the vote:

"The intent of this amendment is simple: to return cop killers back the U.S. to stand trial in our country - the same country they committed their unthinkable crimes. This problem was brought to my attention last month after Denver Police Detective Donnie Young was allegedly executed by Raul Gomez-Garcia. After killing Detective Young and shooting and wounding his partner, Gomez-Garcia fled to Mexico where he was tracked down and arrested weeks later. The Mexican government now refuses to extradite him back to the U.S. if there is any chance he could spend life in prison without parole.
The U.S. should not be forced to plea bargain with other countries in order to try criminals -- especially cop killers -- in our own courts. As a good neighbor, Mexico should live up to their end of our Extradition Treaty.
We are not obliged to give foreign aid and we should not reward the behavior of giving safe haven to cop killers.
